Accelerator 1 | Towards universal access: A three-year plan for ECD funding
This is the first in a series of briefs detailing opportunities to accelerate the expansion and improvement of early childhood development services towards universal access.
This brief explores opportunities to accelerate ECD funding by crowding in funds from existing government budgets, alongside increases in the ECD subsidy and work to build the public systems required for scale. Its release comes ahead of the 2022 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement and in a context in which the value of ECD funding is inadequate, and has decreased in real terms, due to inflation.
Without long-term public investments in ECD, we are missing the single greatest opportunity to escape the inequality trap.
