Stories from the Nali’bali Early Literacy project in the Free State
The CWP4ECD project harnesses the power of communities for early childhood development. CWP is the Community Work Programme – a government initiative providing a job safety net for unemployed people. Programme participants do community work benefiting all community members. Ilifa works with the CWP by training CWP participants to fill gaps in ECD service delivery in impoverished communities.
During October 2016, Ilifa visited the Community Work Programme participants who are implementing the Nal’ibali Early Literacy programme in ECD centres around the Free State. For the children enrolled in these centres, the programme means access to an early literacy programme for the first time. This is their story.
