Post-COVID early childhood care and education enrolment gaps in South Africa -2

This webinar, presented by Dr Eldridge Moses at Stellenbosch University, explores the factors contributing to enrolment gaps in early childhood education and care (ECCE) in South Africa following the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights how both demand- and supply-side challenges, such as reduced household income, parental concerns about quality, and limited availability of registered centres, have constrained access to ECCE services. The discussion emphasises that the pandemic amplified pre-existing inequalities, leaving vulnerable children at a greater risk of missing critical early learning opportunities.
