Preschoolers’ motor, cognitive, and social-emotional functioning in South Africa webinar

Tags: Child outcomes | Early Learning Outcomes Measure

This webinar presents gender-based differences in motor, cognitive, and social-emotional functioning among preschool-aged children in South Africa, using data from the Early Learning Outcomes Measures (ELOM). Findings show that while overall developmental progress is similar, boys tend to lag in certain socio-emotional skills, such as emotional regulation and cooperative play, whereas girls show slightly stronge performance in language and fine motor tasks. The results highlight the need for nuanced approaches in early childhood education to promote holistic development for all children.
