South Africa’s 2030 Strategy for Early Childhood Development Programmes

Tags: Population-based planning

The 2030 Strategy is a national roadmap launched by the Department of Basic Education aimed at transforming early childhood care and learning for young children and achieving universal access to quality early childhood development (ECD) by 2030. The central vision of the strategy is that, by 2030, South Africa will achieve universal access to quality ECD that prioritises the most vulnerable children.

The strategy establishes a new social compact with stakeholders across government, civil society, business, communities, and families with shared responsibility for child development and improved coordination of services.
