Vaccine coverage and timeliness among children of adolescent mothers webinar

This webinar, presented by Dr Camille Wittesaele of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, shares findings from a mixed-methods study on the vaccination coverage and timeliness among children of adolescent mothers in the Eastern Cape. Using data from over 1,000 Road to Health booklets, the study tracks immunisation and well-care visit attendance up to 18 months of age. Findings show a decline in vaccination uptake and clinic visits as children grow older, exposing missed opportunities for delivering essential health services and early detection of developmental issues. the study undescores the importance of targeted strategies to support adolescent mothers and safeguard child health during the critical first 1,000 days.
